Artist Note: The art axiom: knowing where to start and when/where to stop is about right at a 2%/98% ratio. Much depends on a loosely defined "message" and/or "art for art's sake" (which many times is more a message than the producer intended). (Art Criticism and/or Art Critics should be totally parenthetical).
This piece -a slice of a larger work- was scissored vertically and horizontally and rubber cemented back together. I don't know why the pieces never fit perfectly back. Why did I do this? I felt I stopped at the right place. The piece said nothing in a good TA silence but stared at me in a corduroy jacket with patches on elbows, beret, blue shirt, short beard, and aromatic yet understated pipe scent. This guy was good and I made the right choice.

Collage, watercolor, gouache, Dr. Martin's Bleedproof White, Coit nibs, scissors, rubber cement, aroma, on 22 X 7" Fabriano paper matted on Arches.

Publications &: Exhibitions: Sunrise Gallery, Chicago; Esterbrook Art Gallery, Sorroco, NM; Chait Galleries, Iowa City; Amana Emporium, Amana, IA.
